Free stage timer: a full-screen countdown for speakers

  • Runs in your browser
  • No sign-up
  • Nothing is sent anywhere
10:00

Space start/pause · R reset · F full screen

Time

It shows under the time as you type. Clear the box to hide it.

Pick a time, press Start, and put the screen where the speaker can see it. The numbers turn amber at 2 minutes left, red at zero, and then count up how far over time the talk runs.

How it works

  1. Choose 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes, or type your own minutes and seconds and press Set custom time.
  2. Press Full screen (or F) on the laptop or tablet that faces the speaker, then press Start (or Space).
  3. The time is white, turns amber with 2 minutes left, turns red at 0:00, and then counts up the overtime as +0:01, +0:02 and so on.
  4. Type a message such as “5 minutes for questions” and it appears under the time straight away.
  5. Space pauses and resumes, R resets to the time you chose, F or Esc leaves full screen. The timer keeps correct time even if the tab is in the background.

FAQ

Is this stage timer really free?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up, no time limit and no watermark on the numbers, only a small credit in the corner.

Will the screen go to sleep during a talk?

In current Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox the page asks the device to keep the screen on once you press Start, and the note beside the buttons tells you whether that worked.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, the countdown runs without an internet connection because everything happens in your browser.

Can I control the timer from another device?

Not in this free version, which runs on one screen; remote control from the sound booth is what our paid version, in development, adds (see Paid version, above).

Why does the time show a plus sign?

After zero the timer counts up in red, so +1:30 means the talk is a minute and a half over time.
