Free Seating Chart Maker: turn your guest list (CSV) into table assignments
- Runs in your browser
- No sign-up
- Your list is never uploaded
1. Add your guest list
One guest per row: a Name column and an optional Group or Household column. Guests with the same group sit at the same table. First name and Last name columns work too.
2. Set your tables
Paste or upload your guest list, choose how many seats each table has, and get table assignments that keep each household or group at one table and fill the tables evenly. Move anyone with a menu, then download a CSV or print an alphabetical escort-card list and a list per table.
How it works
- Reading your list. The tool finds the Name column (or First name and Last name) and a Group, Household, Party, or Family column. Commas, semicolons, and the tabs of a spreadsheet copy all work. A guest without a group is seated on their own.
- Keeping groups together. Groups are seated largest first, each at the emptiest table that still has room for the whole group. A group is split only when it has more people than a table has seats, or when the tables are too full to keep it together, and the tool tells you when that happens.
- Filling tables evenly. Whole groups are then moved or swapped between tables until the head counts are as even as the group sizes allow.
- Your changes. Moving a guest updates the counts at once, and a table with more guests than seats is marked "over". The CSV and the printout show the chart as you see it.
FAQ
Is this seating chart maker free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up and no limit on guests. Everything runs in your browser, so your guest list is never uploaded to a server.
How do I get my guest list out of Excel or Google Sheets?
Select the Name and Group columns, copy them, and paste them into the box above. You can also save the sheet as a CSV (in Google Sheets: File → Download → Comma-separated values) and upload the file.
Will couples and families stay at the same table?
Yes, when they have the same value in the Group or Household column and the group is no larger than one table. A group larger than a table is split across as few tables as possible, and the tool lists every split.
How many tables do I need?
Divide the number of guests by the seats per table and round up: 40 guests at tables of 8 need 5 tables. The tool fills this in for you. Add a table if you want more room to keep every group together.
Can I print escort cards or a seating list for the venue?
Yes. "Print escort list and tables" prints every guest from A to Z with their table for the escort-card display, then one list per table for the venue. Choose "Save as PDF" in the print window to get a PDF.
