EasyWorship alternatives (2026): free and cheaper church presentation software

EasyWorship 8 is subscription only: Basic costs $210 a year for an average weekly attendance of 1 to 99 and $360 at 1,000 or more, Premium $330 to $480, on Mac and Windows. FreeShow, OpenLP and Quelea are free and open source on Windows, Mac and Linux, and FreeShow adds a stage display and a timer that counts towards a time. FreeWorship is free on Windows, and WorshipTools Presenter is free on Mac and Windows until you need its stage display. Among paid tools, Proclaim costs $269.99 a year per church with unlimited seats, ProPresenter $289 a year per seat, and MediaShout sells a one-time licence from $499.

What EasyWorship 8 costs now

EasyWorship's pricing page asks for your average weekly attendance and shows the price for it. Its own example: two Sunday services of 200 people each make 400.

The yearly prices EasyWorship's pricing page showed for each attendance choice on 5 November 2026. Paid monthly, the 1–99 band costs $21 (Basic) or $33 (Premium) a month.

  • Subscription only: the page offers Basic and Premium, a subscription that "renews automatically", and names no one-time licence.
  • One campus: a licence covers "multiple computers within a single location", not other campuses or church plants.
  • Premium adds the media library: "50,700+ ready to use backgrounds, countdowns, and more".
  • Against the others: from 200 people, Basic ($280) costs more than Proclaim's one price ($269.99), and from 500 ($320) more than one ProPresenter seat ($289).

Find the presentation software that fits your church

To pick by hand:

  1. On Linux, keep FreeShow, OpenLP and Quelea; nothing paid in the table runs there.
  2. With no budget, keep FreeShow, OpenLP, Quelea, FreeWorship (Windows only) and WorshipTools Presenter's free plan.
  3. If the screen must count to the service's start time, keep EasyWorship, ProPresenter, WorshipTools Presenter and FreeShow.

Free and open source: FreeShow, OpenLP, Quelea

FreeShow says it "is and always will be free". Version 1.6.7 came out on 21 October 2026 for Windows, Mac and Linux. Its stage display is "content exclusive to the people on stage", shown in a browser or in an output window over HDMI or NDI. Scripture comes from "over 200 bible versions from API.Bible", or from Zefania, OSIS, Beblia and OpenSong files.

OpenLP is "Free to download, free to use, and free to give to all your friends", on Windows, macOS, Linux and FreeBSD. Its stage view opens from any device on the network with a web browser and shows the time of day; neither its site nor its manual mentions a countdown.

Quelea is "100% free", with a separate stage view that shows chords to the band and lyrics pushed "to any mobile device with a browser". Its timer counts down the minutes and seconds you type, such as 5:00, and starts when you click Go live.

FreeWorship: free on Windows, with EasyWorship song import

FreeWorship's free version costs £0 and shows songs, Bible passages, PowerPoint, videos, "countdown clocks" and scrolling alerts, with a stage display for the people on stage. It imports songs from CCLI SongSelect, EasyWorship 2009 and 6, OpenLP and other programs. Its download page offers one Windows installer. FreeWorship Pro, £12.99 a month with a 2-week free trial or £250 once for a site licence, adds one-click SongSelect import, QuickEdit+, verse ordering and Bible search.

WorshipTools Presenter: free until the stage display

WorshipTools Presenter is "free forever on macOS and Windows: unlimited installs, no expiring trial", with Countdown to Time and 45+ Bibles. The free plan holds 15 items per service. Stage display, the mobile remote and multiple output screens need Pro, at $19 a month or $195 a year.

  • Proclaim is priced per church, not by attendance: $269.99 a year with "unlimited seats and installs on Mac & Windows" and 60+ Bible versions. Its confidence monitor shows "lyrics, notes, chords, and more" to each person on stage, and its timers are in every plan. Pro, at $399.99, adds editing in a browser and on iOS and Android.
  • ProPresenter is priced per seat: $289 a year for the first, $189 for each of seats 2 to 4, $149 for each of seats 5 to 10, or $29 a month per seat. It documents stage screens and a Countdown to Time that reaches zero "at a specific time of day".
  • MediaShout is the one with a one-time price: $599 for a Windows site licence on unlimited computers, $499 for Mac. Its LE plan, $198 a year for one Windows computer, has "NO Stage/Confidence Display"; there is no LE for Mac.

Only the countdown: a browser timer

If the church needs software only to put a countdown on a screen, presentation software is more than the job. Our free Stage Timer runs full screen in a browser with no sign-up: 5 to 45 minutes or your own time, a line of text under the time, amber at 2:00 and red at 0:00. It counts a number of minutes, not to a clock time, and it runs on one screen with no remote control. It shows no lyrics or scripture, so it replaces none of the software above.

What EasyWorship's pricing page doesn't mention is the speaker's own countdown, run from the booth while the presentation software runs the slides. Blink Timer is built for that one job; it isn't presentation software.

No. EasyWorship 8 has a 30-day free trial with no credit card, then a subscription: Basic costs $210 a year, or $21 a month, for an average weekly attendance of 1 to 99, and $360 a year at 1,000 or more.

What is the best free alternative to EasyWorship?

FreeShow, if you want one free app on Windows, Mac or Linux with a stage display, Bibles and a timer that counts towards a time. On Windows, FreeWorship is free and imports songs from EasyWorship 2009 and 6. WorshipTools Presenter is free on Mac and Windows, but its stage display needs Pro at $195 a year.

Is ProPresenter or EasyWorship cheaper?

For one computer, EasyWorship Basic costs less below an attendance of 500: $210 to $280 a year, against $289 for one ProPresenter seat. EasyWorship's licence covers every computer at one campus, while ProPresenter charges per seat: two seats cost $478 a year.

Does EasyWorship work on a Mac?

Yes. EasyWorship 8 runs on macOS 14 or later as well as Windows 10 and 11. Among the free alternatives, FreeShow, OpenLP, Quelea and WorshipTools Presenter run on a Mac; FreeWorship offers only a Windows download.
