How to print multiple photos on one page from an iPhone (2 or 4 per page)

By Blink Brief · Updated  · How pages are made

The print screen in Photos has no "photos per page" setting, so each photo prints on its own sheet. To get 2 or 4 on one page, turn the print into a PDF first: on the Print Options screen, tap the Share button at the top and choose Save to Files. Then open that PDF, tap Share › Print, and set Options › Layout › Pages per Sheet to 2 or 4. If you want the photos in a grid with their file names, or the same size on every page, lay them out in a free browser tool and print the PDF it makes.

Short answer

  • Built in: Photos › Select › Share › Print › Share (top) › Save to Files. Open the PDF › Share › Print › Options › Layout › Pages per Sheet: 2 or 4.
  • A tidy grid: a contact sheet maker. 2 across on a tall page gives 4 photos per page; on a wide page, 2.
  • Exact 4×6 prints: neither route. Print from Photos onto 4×6 paper, one per sheet, or order prints.

Why the iPhone prints one photo per page

Apple's steps for printing photos are: tap Select, select each photo, tap Share, then Print. Apple's print article lists what you can set there: "the number of copies or other options, like which pages you want to print". There is no layout option.

We checked on iOS 26.5 (in Apple's iPhone simulator, with no printer connected) with 4 photos selected. The Print Options screen offered only Printer, Copies and Paper Size, with Paper Size set to 4 x 6 inches, and the preview read "Page 1 of 4". The other sizes in the list were 3½ x 5, 5 x 7 and 8 x 10 inches, A6, Photo Large, Photo Small, Postcard and PRC 32K. A real printer can add its own paper sizes; we didn't test with one.

The setting you want, Pages per Sheet, appears when you print a document. That's why the built-in route goes through a PDF.

Built in: save the print as a PDF, then print 2 or 4 pages per sheet

Tested on iOS 26.5. Apple doesn't document these steps, so labels may differ on another version.

  1. In Photos, tap Select, select the photos, tap Share, then Print.
  2. On the Print Options screen, tap the Share button at the top. The share sheet shows the print as a PDF Document.
  3. Tap Save to Files, pick a folder, and tap Save.
  4. In Files, open the PDF. Tap Share, then Print.
  5. Tap Layout (it shows "1 page per sheet") and set Pages per Sheet to 2 or 4. The choices are 1, 2, 4, 6, 9 and 16.
  6. Check Paper Size and the preview: with 4 photos at 4 per sheet it read "Sheet 1 of 1". Then print.

Two things we saw in the test. The PDF put the photos in the order they sit in your library, not the order you tapped them. And at 4 per sheet, iOS turned the sheet and the photos sideways to fit them, so look at the preview before you print. Layout also has a Border setting if you want a thin line around each photo.

Printer apps: HP and Epson

  • HP: HP Smart is now called HP in the App Store (version 26.4.2 on 2026-11-03). Its listing doesn't mention putting several photos on one page, and we couldn't confirm it in the app.
  • Epson Creative Print: its App Store listing (version 7.11.0) lists "Collage – Create and print a collage of your favorite photos from your phone or tablet."
  • Epson Smart Panel: Epson's page for the app says "Creative Tools Included: Design collages, greeting cards, and personalized stationery".
  • Epson iPrint: its listing names paper size and type, copies, page range and two-sided printing, and no photo layout.

A collage is designed to look good, with its own frames and spacing. If you want plain rows of photos, the PDF route above works with any printer your iPhone can print to, HP and Epson included.

Lay out 2 or 4 photos with a free browser tool, then print

A contact sheet maker puts photos in an even grid, the same size on every page, with the file name under each if you want it. Contact Sheet is ours: free, in Safari, with no sign-up and no watermark, and your photos are never uploaded. It loads its PDF library from a public code server (cdnjs); the photos stay in the tab. We tested these steps in Safari on iOS 26.5:

  1. Open the tool and tap Choose photos, then Photo Library, and pick the photos. The tool takes JPEG, PNG and WebP, and HEIC where the browser can open it; a photo it can't read is listed as skipped.
  2. Under Paper, choose US Letter or A4.
  3. For 4 per page: Orientation Portrait (tall) and Photos across the page 2 across. The tool said "4 fit on a page: 2 across, 2 down."
  4. For 2 per page: Landscape (wide) and 2 across. It said "2 fit on a page: 2 across, 1 down."
  5. Under Label under each photo, pick File name, Frame number, Number and file name, or No label. Untick Page numbers at the bottom if you don't want them.
  6. Tap Download PDF. Safari opens the PDF. Tap the Share button, then Print.

The more photos across, the smaller each one, so 2 across gives the largest photos.

Exact 4×6 prints versus photos that fit a grid

Neither route gives you a true 4×6-inch print on a letter-size sheet:

  • Pages per Sheet shrinks each page of the PDF to fit its share of the sheet.
  • Contact Sheet puts each photo in a square cell, so a wide photo fills the cell's width and a tall one its height. A typical iPhone photo is 4:3.
Contact Sheet, 2 across Photos per page Cell (long side of each photo) A 4:3 photo prints at
US Letter, Portrait (tall)43.68 in3.68 × 2.76 in
US Letter, Landscape (wide)24.93 in4.93 × 3.70 in
A4, Portrait (tall)43.56 in (90 mm)90 × 68 mm
A4, Landscape (wide)25.28 in (134 mm)134 × 101 mm

The tool keeps copies of your photos no larger than 1000 pixels on the long side and puts them in the PDF at about 200 pixels per inch. That's sharp enough for a page to stick on the fridge or hand out, not for a photo-lab print. For real 4×6 prints, load 4×6 photo paper and print from Photos one per sheet, or order prints.

Letter or A4, and printer settings that crop

  • Match the paper three times: in the tool (or the PDF), in Paper Size on the Print Options screen, and in the printer's tray. Letter is the US and Canada size; A4 is used almost everywhere else.
  • Watch the paper size iOS picks. In our test, printing from Photos defaulted to 4 x 6 inches and printing the PDF defaulted to US Letter. A Letter page sent to 4×6 paper comes out shrunk.
  • Margins: Contact Sheet leaves half an inch of white on every side, so nothing sits at the paper's edge where a printer can't reach.

If the photos are also on a computer, a contact sheet is easier to set up there, with more room to check the layout. How to make a printable photo contact sheet (PDF) with file names has the steps for a Mac and for Windows. If you need the photos as one PDF to send rather than to print, see How to combine photos into one PDF on an iPhone or Android phone.

Questions

Can you print multiple photos on one page from an iPhone?

Not from the Photos print screen, which prints one photo per sheet. Save the print as a PDF instead (the Share button at the top of Print Options › Save to Files), open the PDF and print it with Options › Layout › Pages per Sheet. Or lay the photos out in a free browser tool such as Contact Sheet and print its PDF.

How do I print 2 pictures on one page on an iPhone?

Save the photos' print as a PDF and print it with Pages per Sheet set to 2. Or, in Contact Sheet, choose US Letter or A4, Landscape (wide) and 2 across: that puts 2 photos on each page, each up to 4.93 inches wide on Letter.

How do I print 4 photos on one page from my iPhone?

Save the photos' print as a PDF and print it with Pages per Sheet set to 4. Or, in Contact Sheet, choose Portrait (tall) and 2 across: 4 photos fit on a Letter or A4 page.

Why does my iPhone print one picture per page?

The print screen you reach from Photos has no layout setting. In our test on iOS 26.5 it offered Copies and Paper Size, and its preview showed 4 selected photos as 4 pages. Pages per Sheet appears when you print a document, such as a PDF, instead.

Can I print several photos on one page with HP Smart?

We couldn't confirm it. HP's App Store listing for the app, now called HP, doesn't mention a multi-photo layout. The PDF route in this guide works with any printer your iPhone can print to.
